From Runway to Red Carpet: Cynthia Rowley
Cynthia Rowley received some face time this week as two of her designs, one based on a gown from her Fall 09 collection and the other from her Spring 09 collection, made an appearance at Academy Awards events.
Mimi O’Donnell, girlfriend of Phillip Seymour Hoffman, wore last night a long halter-style column gown designed exclusively for her by Cynthia, based on the fall runway look shown here. In shiny ebony silk, the exposed shoulders brought a little extra flair and the added length conveyed the red carpet elegance perfect for the Oscars. Tastefully done, no? (now, he may be another story…)
Celeb stylist Becks Welch (think Carrie Underwood and Charlize Theron) picked out a feminine belted number (with a bit of sheer – a hot trend!) for Amanda Righetti, star of “Friday the 13th” and “The Mentalist,” for a pre-Oscar party at the SLS Hotel in Bev Hill on Saturday. I love how the belt completely cinches in the waist and creates such figure flattery. (My friends recently told me they hate belts on a tell-all trip to the dressing room, and my mouth dropped open! Belts are a girl’s best figure-friendly secret – use them!!)
