Exclusive Chat with Author Laura Day
Laura Day is a NY Times best-selling author (How to Rule the World from Your Couch) and “intuitionist” who has worked with top corporations and celebs all over (think ~$10k per client!). If you’ve been dying to figure out how to predict next season’s fashion trends? Read on!
IHH: When you began your consulting business, did you ever intend to write books? How did How to Rule the World from Your Couch come about?
LD: I had no intention of starting a consulting business, although I always wanted to write books. Some early tests on my ability were televised 30 years ago, and I had an instant following (which at the time freaked me out!). Of course, at the time I was looking for a direction for my life, so it found me, as opposed to my finding it (as is so often the case in life). In How to Rule the World from Your Couch, I really give away my secrets so that anyone can use, teach and consult as an intuitive and get the same kind of accurate information as me.
IHH: You say you’re an introvert. How do your techniques on intuition help you overcome this trait, or do they? Can you still be a true introvert and truly succeed in life?
LD: Intuition allows you to make strong and intimate contact even at a distance. You can have a whole conversation with someone you have never even met and they will hear you and respond! Introverts and intuition go very well together, and the people we connect with intuitively come and drag us out! An introvert has the natural inclination to be the “fly on the wall” and not the one in the thick of things. This gives us “I’s” a natural advantage in perspective and detachment. However, the extroverts make amazing healers, movers and shakers. Working together…we make soup!
IHH: Is it possible to predict next season’s fashion trends, or is there even a way to use fashion to feel good about yourself?
LD: I have worked for fashion companies predicting trends, but you can just as easily place what you want to create to seed a trend. It is good to balance prediction with each of our abilities to change the future. When you [practice] this book as a team, family, group or company you really create a lot of power to be the one who chooses – as opposed to predicting someone else’s choice.
I think a fun and sneaky way of using intuition is to use precognition (telling the future) to find one item that is going to be hot in a year and start using it now! Do that a lot and people will notice and come to you for advice – that can end up a career.
IHH: You’ve worked with stars from Jennifer Aniston to Demi Moore and Nicole Kidman. Do you feel like you’ve played a part in these women reaching success in their lives and careers?
LD: I never name clients. However, going back to fashion, I do get some really good hand-me- downs. To be honest, I can’t help but experience the future when I sit with someone, so all of my friends are subjected to my intuition whether they want it or not. TMI is an expression I learned early. You named three of the kindest, most supportive women I know. I hope that I have given as much to them as they have to me!
The three lovely women you mentioned didn’t have perfect lives and weren’t born celebs. It wasn’t a coin toss. They used their intuition to find what they had to offer that was useful to the world and because of that became successful. I did the same. My hope is that wherever your readers are in their lives right now, they use these same tools to get where they want to go, with the people and love around them that makes it worth the trip.

I've been following Laura Day since the publication of her first book The Circle. With her guidance and instruction, I have brought so much abundance into my life. When my New Reality has come to fruition, I've gone back to review what I wrote in The Circle workbook. I'm astounded at how my New Reality is in sync with what I wrote. Although it does take practice and doing Laura's assignments, it simply works. I'm excited to embrace her newest publication How To Rule The World From Your Couch to expand upon the tools Laura has already shared with me. Cheryl G.

Laura is the real deal. I've read most of her books and “How to Rule the World From Your Couch” is a must have. In each chapter she provides exercises to help you fine tune your intuition. Do them! I nailed the remote viewing exercises and that both stunned me and inspired me to practice the other skills as well.

It is so worth it to learn more about Laura Days work, and to try the exercises in her latest book; it's like taking a class from this profoundly gifted intutive. I've been amazed at what I've been able to do. Espeically if you like a great peice at a great price; for that alone, using intuition is the best.

Reading “Practical Intuition” changed my life. I was lucky enough to attend a seminar on “The Circle” and it was mind-blowing. All of Laura's books are enlightening and truly profound. Laura has helped me not only through her books, but also personally with healings.
A few years ago Laura helped me through a major health crisis (I had a ruptured brain aneurysm) and I will never forget her generosity of spirit and kindness. Her work isn't “what she does, it's who she is”, as she puts it. We are lucky to be the beneficiaries of her generosity and wisdon.

I'm a person who, when a problem hits, wants to move immediately into figuring out how to resolve it. Often, unlike a broken water pipe, fixing things in our lives, careers, relationships are not as easy as a trip to Home Depot. But in this book, Laura Day provides real, tangible tools for fixing those parts of our lives. The best part about these actions is that Laura is very clear in saying that they should be used within our busy hectic days – you don't need to clear an hour for cross-legged meditation to exert your ability to change something for the good. As I work through this book (and I'm still doing so at different paces every day) the one overwhelming thing about the experience isn't the fact that I can make situations better, bring myself perfect opportunities, or negotiate changes in relationships. It is the calming and empowering knowledge that I really can choose what my life is like. When you open the book (or experience any of the gifts Laura offers – books, CD experiences, workshops) you are stepping into a community that is at once comforting and invigorating. The support you receive from the other people who have open their lives to these ideas is amazing. As is Laura herself being right there with you. Yes, she does have friends/clients who are exciting and famous. But the most beautiful thing about Laura (and what she is trying to teach us) is that she sees everyone as within her circle – her family.
