I’m Thankful For…
Happy Thanksgiving!!! I have to admit, I’m cheating. I want to spend all day today with family (ya know, instead of with my fingers clued to the keyboard for hours!), so I’m scheduling this post a day early. As I’m writing this, I’m pretty much two weeks away from having a baby – wow! This year has been a great one with so many things to be thankful for, I certainly can’t name them all. And of course, I’m thankful for all of you. This blog started as a hobby and has continued as my passion. So…I want to share with you the goodies I’m completely hearting this season. Let me know in the comments if you’ve tried any!
1. Molton Brown’s Indian Transformation Gift Set ($142)
So, London brand Molton Brown’s bath products are pretty much to die for – really. If you’ve ever treated yourself to a luxury hotel (The Bryant Park Hotel and Hotel ZaZa come to mind for me!), you’ve probably scooped up as many of these tiny toiletries as possible. Why? Because they smell irresistible (and the shampoo does wonders for my hair!)! This holiday kit includes all the best – eau de parfum, shower satane (gel) and body lotion in the Intoxicating Davana Blossom scent. I’ve been wearing the perfume for weeks now – it’s floral with orange flower and jasmine notes. This sounds funny, but it almost reminds me of a reallllly good-smelling hairspray. It’s really light, wearable and, well, intoxicating.
2. Vapour Organic Beauty (Luscious Lip Trio – $39)
Familiar with Kevyn Aucoin? (love that mascara, among other things!) Well, Eric Sakas, co-founder, has used his 15 years of experience in beauty to create this new line. It’s 100% natural with at least 70% certified organic ingredients. This set comes with Lux lip conditioner, Siren lipstick in Desire and Elixir lip gloss in Twinkle. Wow, what texture! What moisture! And all of the lipstick color choices make me giddy because I can never wear the same color all week long.
3. Nine West – heels, of course!
I’ve been obsessing over purchasing a new pair of metallic heels for the last several weeks. Don’t ask me why, but when I get something in my head, it won’t escape (especially a pair of shiny, geometric cut-outs!). Nine West makes some of the cutest, on-trend shoes on the block and these are a sneak peek at their Spring/Summer 2010 collection – in stores in February. I guess I’ll have to wait. But, for now? Just know that metallics will still be very much “in” come spring – and that makes me happy!
4. Philosophy Cookies & Milk
If you’ve never tried Philosophy shower gels, you must go now! They are simply the best ever, and have the cutest packaging (yes, I’m a sucker. hate to throw the box away!). For the holidays, my favorite is the twas the night before duo ($20) in the Cookies & Milk scent. Yum! And the coolest part is you can easily use these as shampoo, shower gel and bubble bath – and all three functions work beautifully! And that’s saying something.
5. Amanda Pearl clutches
I’m a huge fan of this line of uptown, fancy handbags and accessories. Of course, you do have to have somewhere to go to use them (holiday parties, yes?), they certainly stand out from all the rest. Countless celebs have carried them on the red carpet, not to mention Amanda’s the sweetest designer you ever will meet! I, for, one can’t take my eyes off the Le Tout clutch ($165) for winter – the animal print mixed with metallic sheen is genius and just gorgeous! In fact, I would totally even carry it with jeans and heels. Plus, 20-percent of each sale goes to the World Wildlife Fund (inspired by Amanda’s trip last year to Africa).
6. CharmandChain.com
I just discovered this statement-making “jewel” of a Web site, and fell in love! I mean, it sells that House of Harlow necklace I’ve been coveting for months! Founded by Ali Galgano and based online out of Manhattan, everything on the site is completely wearable and definitely eye-catching. You can scour pages of baubles – from Fiona Paxton to Lulu Frost – at all price points and any style. And last I checked, the sale section had some pretty amazing steals! (The Juliet necklace below by Lee Angel is not one of those, but how gorgeous, right!?)
