Trend Alert! Fake Reading Glasses

In honor today of Lisa Loeb tying the knot, I thought I would explain my new obsession with fake reading glasses. See, a couple of years ago, when I went to Boston to see a friend in a play, I tried on this fab pair of brown tortoise shell glasses. I won't lie, I looked good in them! Unfortunately, my friend had to coax me away from them reminding me I could see perfectly fine and that even the slightest prescription would give me a nauseous headache. Thanks for that, M! I would've regretted it.

So, needless to say, I've been searching for a pair of "fake" glasses for years. Where do you find them? I longed for that serious librarian/editor chicster look for so long, and alas! I found a pair at, get this, Claire's at the mall. They're black, only cost me $8.50 and they're so great. I look like a complete and utter dork, according to my husband. But I don't care. I feel so smart and so editor chic. (And I don't get a headache from wearing them.)

The Art of Tying a Scarf (Celeb-Style!)

So I'm still obsessed with my Tolani scarf (love it!) from Intuition, but I also have a zebra-print scarf from Kitson and a lime green one from Wal-Mart (let's get this straight, I'm a Target girl and hate Wal-Mart, but these scarves were $5 and looked as if they were $50, so had to have!). You see all the celebs walking around with their scarves and wonder (I know you do, I do!) - how the heck do they manage to tie them so effortlessly? Most of the time, when I tie mine it winds up looking like I'm going snow-skiing and not casually shopping around town.

This week, I'm proud to say after much studying and research, I've mastered my fav way to tie one on. Here's the deal. All you have to do is take the scarf and place it behind your neck, letting both ends fall at full length. Take either end you choose, and loop it back around your neck completely so that now you have the scarf circling your neck and both ends dangling as before.

Now, here's the part that you don't want to miss. Take the ends as if you're tying a shoe or a belt around your waist and then knot them, but don't pull it taut. Leave it hanging loosely below the part draped around your neck. Voila! You now look just like Eva Longoria above. I knew you could do it!

Borghese's New Spring Nail Collection

New spring nail colors are already blooming, and makes me so excited. I love painting my nails once the weather gets warm. I think I paint them a different color every week! Of course I have my favs, but it's so much to try all the colors in each set at least once.

Borghese has a new spring collection of super-sweet pink and purple nail colors - they're subtle and inspired by the season's fragrant florals. Think Peonia Blossom, Piccola Tulip and Primula Primrose - straight from an Italian garden. Doesn't that make you crave for spring?
Each shade comes with a special brush custom designed to hug the shape of your nail for a smooth, flawless application, and the exclusive Aqua di Vita complex helps restore healthy moisture to the nails. What's more? They're only $8 per bottle - time to stock the cabinet with one of each!

Spotted! Cute Plaid Coat on Gossip Girls

Gossip Girls fans, rejoice! Did you see the episode the other day with Jessica Szohr (aka Vanessa) wearing a blue and green plaid coat? If you're like me, when you see something you like, you want to know where someone bought it (but you just hate to ask!). Besides, I hate it when someone tells someone else they like their article of clothing and they reply "Thanks! I got it from X Store." So wrong!

I'm taking the guesswork out of this one and spilling the deets on this jacket (a peacoat with a zipper! tres chic!). It's actually from Chris & Jaime's holiday collection and you can find it at Barneys Co-Op (personal fav!!) for $370. Not bad for a well-made classic you wear for years - with everything!

Chocolate and the City

My grandma has a magnet that says "I never met a chocolate I didn't like." I love that magnet because it sooo applies to me too (and my mom and my sister...)! I must admit it runs in the family, and just to even savor one small bite of it today, really gets me going for the rest of the day.

Needless to say, I sat here with my jaw dropped open when I saw the Bryant Park Hotel will have the Godiva Chocolate Decadence Suite. Brooke Shield (in Jill Stuart dress and Judith Ripka jewels, darling) unveiled the suite yesterday, along with uber-chic designer Jonathan Adler. We're talking chocolate walls and even furniture (check out that headboard in the background!) - the whole suite is made of different chocolate elements. Even the funky chocolate Adler bedding.

Starting now, Godiva is giving one lucky winner the chance to stay in the suite for two nights, plus a chocolate tasting and dinner for two. And once home the sweetness doesn't end. The winner will get a year's supply of Godiva. To enter, just look for the heart symbol on any Valentine's Day gift box worth $25 or more. And if you win, will you please send me just one piece of your chocolate?

Stay Beautiful - for Less!

Being beautiful is tough, right? There's so much pressure for a girl to look good (I always think to myself who cares about what others think, I just want to feel good myself!), and the price to do that isn't always so easy. If you're like me, you loooove make-up, bath products, haircare, the list goes on. And if you're like me, you looooove the pricey stuff. I've been checking out the sales on RueLaLa.com for fashion lately, but breaking news! Tomorrow is their first BEAUTY sale! Hooray - recessionistas rejoice!

Get your clickers ready, because Stila Cosmetics (love me some lip glaze!) is first up and it starts at 10 a.m. central. BUT, it's invitation only. I'm feeling generous though, and I'm going to go ahead and invite you with this e-mail address: VIP@ruelala.com. Just choose "Invited by a Member" and enter it there. Enjoy the savings!

Celebs Heart Mary Norton Clutches

Everyone's doing it. Carrying a Mary Norton clutch, that is. From Carrie Underwood to Isla Fisher (cannot WAIT until Confessions of a Shopaholic comes out in a couple of weeks - squeal!), they're so hot right now. Chances are if you're drooling over someone's handbag at an event, it's quite possibly by Mary Norton.

What I love about Mary (besides the fact she's a fellow southerner!) is her philosophy - you CAN be beautiful, feminine and chic and be a wife, a mother, a friend and a boss at the same time!

Her bags (and shoes - she sells those too!) are gorgeous, whimsical and the perfect extra pop for a
standout ensemble. Of course, they come at a pretty price too (think: investment), so if you can't afford the full price, go for the sale items (love a good sale-especially 70-percent off!). While I'm gabbing about Mary's beautiful one-of-a-kind creations, let me mention I had a chance to catch up with her this week. Here's what she had to say (even she's finding new ways to reinvent her closet during the recession!).

IHH: What are your current fashion obsessions at the moment?

MN:
Shoes and bags that I can take to make my classics look new. In this economic crunch, I will not be buying new outfits this season. I will be wearing things that are classic such as my black pencil skirts, classic blouses, good jeans, basic black dresses and so on. Therefore, my answer to recession-proofing my wardrobe is to find amazing shoes and bags that will draw the attention away from my outfits and to my awesome shoes and bags!!

IHH: When is it appropriate to carry a clutch and when is it not?

MN:
Clutches are always appropriate and chic. A great thing to look for in purchasing a clutch is to make sure that it has a shoulder strap for when you would like to wear it as a shoulder bag. Shoulder straps can give your clutch a lot more wearability.

IHH: Who are your favorite celebrity style mavens?

MN:
Of course I’m partial to my clients such as Carrie Underwood, Queen Latifah, Cameron Diaz, Taraji Henson, Vanessa Hudgens and Charlize Theron. What I love the most is that these gals know how to mix up our shoes and bags and not just wear them with gowns, but with jeans and cocktail dresses as well.

IHH: What is a typical day like for you?

MN:
Although I’ m a designer, I'm a proud mommy first and foremost. So, everyday begins with getting my two daughters, Micah (13) and Reilly (11) off to school. I then am ALWAYS late to the office. I come in and check with our team in Italy as to status on designs in sampling and production. The rest of the day is spent putting out fires between our LA and Charleston boutiques, our NY wholesale department, as well as working with our public relations firms in LA and NY. I do try to slip a bit of designing in on the fly before I rush off to get the kids to basketball games, swimming practice, drama practice, guitar lessons, cotillion, make dinner, do homework and get them to bed! I have an awesome, full, blessed life. (Oh, by the way, I have an amazing husband who does way more than his share of the above, but it is a mighty task for us both.)

IHH:
So, what is it - heels or flats?
MN:
Both! One can never have enough shoes!

Another Gypsy Dress Ready for Order

I've already expressed how much I love my Gypsy dresses (soooo soft and sooooo comfy, I could LIVE in this brand!). Nicky Hilton was just spotted in the new (as in normal people can't buy yet) Adela Silk Short Tube Dress ($169). Will this be what the maxi dress was to last year's spring? Only time will tell, but I certainly know you couldn't get away with that here right now. I mean seriously, LA must have the perfect temperature (as I sit trapped inside of an ice storm, sigh).

Anyhow, you'll have to wait a bit. BUT. You can have your very own Adela if you pre-order at Gypsy05.com now. You'll even get your dress by April 15 - how nice of them!

William Rast: The Designer Denim Craze Continues

Ever tried on a pair of William Rast jeans? I know, they're pricey for a pair of jeans (cough, cough), even designer jeans. They start at $189, but with 365 days a year, that's just over 50 cents a day. Now that's not to say you'll wear them every day (um, gross?), but you get my point. A good pair of jeans is priceless. It's the same thing as buying a few pair of really mediocre ones. Wouldn't you rather have those rock star jeans you pull out of the closet that just make every outfit even more magical? I thought so.

Vanessa Minnillo (a fellow lover of great scarves (here she's wearing the Gypsy 05 ombre scarf, also loved by Denise Richards)...and I just mentioned earlier today we both love our Tolani Weeds scarf!) was just spotted with Nick Lachey at LAX wearing her very own William Rasts. Chic with just the right touch of rugged with the subtle, distressed details (they look like the Sadie style to me).

And I love the brown leather accessories paired with the denim. The short jacket style allows her to still highlight her figure, and by leaving the jacket open, she can still show off her scarf. Insider tip: Always wear heels with your jeans - your figure will get an instant boost and will thank you for it - even if it's just a slight heel!

Sneak Peek! Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation

Bobbi Brown's got a special message just for you about her new Skin Foundation ($45), launching next week. Click here to watch it! It's got an SPF of 15 and light reflective optics for that perfect inner glow. Your skin will look amazing - but doesn't it always with the help of Bobbi's genius?

Giveaway! Confessions of a Beauty Addict

One of my beauty blogger buddies (say that 10 times!) just wrote another book, Confessions of a Beauty Addict, and it goes on sale tomorrow (psst...e-mail me now at iheartheels@hotmail.com to win a copy!!)! If you're not familiar with Nadine Haobsh and her blog Jolie Nadine, you're definitely missing out! She's a former beauty editor too, and now lives in LA where she attends lots of glamorous events. I've been reading her blog for a few years now, and can't stay away - it's addictive!

Her first book Beauty Confidential was too good - not to mention it has tons of great beauty tips she's picked up on over the years she's been in the beauty industry. Confessions is follow-up fiction novel about lead character Bella Hunter and based on Nadine's own whirlwind life (an amazing story! she was actually ousted from her beauty editor position at a magazine for creating her gossip blog that told many of the ins and outs of the beauty world - oy!) Now Nadine's turned her blog into a must-read and is a book-writing girlfriend. I highly recommend this book as well as her last one - Nadine, you go, girl!

P.S. Click here to order your friend a copy!

Intuition: I'm Back!

Ok, you might not remember the glorious day I scored tons of designer clothing from Intuition's Warehouse Sale (I'm talking pants for $9.99) only to find that only two of my items would be sent to me (and one item was part of a set). Read it here, if you want. Today? I'm here to tell you I'm a new person and really good companies deserve second chances. I mean, Intuition is an LA-based store (also on the Web) that counts an endless amount of celebs as their clients. And for them to care about my happiness? Well, let's just say I was over the moon when their senior buyer contacted me to make things right.

Three must-haves I'm loving from the chic shop at the moment:
Tolani Scarves (particularly in the Weeds pattern shown here - sported by Vanessa Minnillo mucho times)
The laid-back, girly Cali brand, R
ails. Comprised of lots of frills and ruffles, you can't beat this line. I could LIVE in these clothes!
Black velvet ballet flats by Brazilian brand Melissa. So chic and so perfect for absolutely any outfit. And I adore the little peep toe.

I can't possibly stay irritated at a company committed to making things right for its customers - it's just impossible! Not to mention, they've got some hot stuff I absolutely can't resist. Check it out at here.

Intuition, I'm back! xoxo

Leggings and Cardi Combo

My new fav look? Thick black leggings balanced with an over-sized cardigan and riding boots (a la Sarah Michelle Gellar here). Add a bright scarf, if you like. Love it! I just bought a pair of leggings and a long, black cardigan this weekend. The trick is to make sure the leggings are sturdy to block cold weather. A cute accent (mine have gold buttons at the bottom!) is nice for when you pair them with ballet flats. So parisian chic!

The cardi should be lightweight so it can easily layer over a cute cami, turtleneck or flouncy silk blouse (I like to wear my cardi unbuttoned to show off the cute blouse underneath.) and hit just above the knees. And I'm a fan of black, by the way - colors just make your legs look larger. And girl, you know that's never cool.

Beat the Winter Blues

It's hard to stay upbeat when it's cold and dreary outside (I personally am a beach, warm weather fan and couldn't live without my summer trip to the shore!). But your skin needs more attention during the winter months because it can be harsh on your skin. In other words, moisturize and repeat! Your face, your hands, your feet and don't forget your lips!

Sephora by OPI makes a nice restorative compact hand moisturizer to use on the go for just $10. Your hands are almost always exposed so it's important to nourish them with a little tender-loving care, and this pretty potion does just the trick.

For your whole body, I love Sephora's body butter ($16 - one of the reasons why I love the Sephora! so amazingly affordable, yet so good!). There are 10 different scents to choose from, and the natural shea butter and beeswax keep your entire body hydrated so well.

The "tricks of the trade" lip balm is just $8, and the mango butter and vitamin E leave your lips so soft and supple, you'll want to keep kissing for days! That will for sure help you beat the winter blues.

What to Wear to Work this Spring

What to wear to work is constantly on my mind - I don't know about you. I usually try to set out what I plan to wear the night before (since I hit snooze three times and get up at THE LAST possible minute). Since I work full-time in a corporate environ, it's important to stay tasteful while still keeping within my stylish realm.

This sleeveless dress from Rebecca & Drew's spring collection is the perfect example of something I might wear. The tweed is sturdy and classic, and mix it with a pretty pastel pink hue and you have work-perfect attire. On a cool day, layer a white button-down underneath. I just love the belted waist and pocket details - it equals effortless working woman chic! You go girl!

Your New Fav Jeans

I just finished digging through jeans at a buy one, get one free sale - gasp! No matter how many pairs of jeans I have, I can never have enough. I LIVE in my jeans - and so wearing them over and over can take its toil on them. That's why a good quality jean is so, so important. I can't stress enough!

I am so digging GoldSign's Misfit Super Stretch style that just came out. I have both stretch and non-stretch jeans, but I will say stretch is def worth it. They're so comfortable - these even have a 35% 4-way stretch fabric. You know how leggings with long cardigans are so hot right now? (Just bought some today, actually!) These look and feel as if you're wearing a pair when in all actuality they're just your new fav pair of jeans. ;)

P.S. You can find them at the Iconic American Rag in LA or online at shopbop.com and revolveclothing.com. Happy shopping!

Fuel Up on A New Fragrance

Looking for a new signature scent as we head into the cold, dreary winter? Diesel's new Fuel for Life Unlimited is a refreshing jolt of pure fruity goodness. It blends calabrian lemon and mandarin orange and smells like something I would try to steal as many squirts off the fragrance counter as I could.

There are also hints of floral - Casablanca lilies and jasmine - and creamy sandalwood and American cedar. And isn't the bottle gorgeous? The brown net adorned with a golden chain is off the hook stylish - I can just imagine whipping this out of my handbag on the subway.

It's a scent that gives a whole new meaning to life - spray it on your neck, wrists and behind the knees for a subtle dose of mystery. And pick one up at any Diesel boutique!

Peeling Groovy

Bliss is one of my fav skincare lines, and I love to read the names of the new products when I go to Sephora (every other week - bashful face). They've just released a new facial serum, Peeling Groovy ($65), that's a triple threat against aging.

It used to be known as the Sleeping Peel Serum (not a bad name, but I prefer the new one much more!), and now it even looks new. But it's the same serum formula that's perfected skin for years. It keeps lines at bay, lightens dark spots and just makes you look a heck of a lot younger than your years.

Just apply a thin layer wherever you need it (or think you need it, ahem) - face, hands or even decollete!

P.S. It's made of dermatologist-developed AFAs, which are non-irritating (hello, sensitive skin people!) and attract up to three times the normal levels of moisture - so your skin stays healthy, too.

First Lady Woos Us Over with Wu

I was ecstatic to hear Michelle Obama chose a dress by designer Jason Wu for the inaugural balls. So fresh, so new, so pretty! White definitely complements her well, and wasn't the silk chiffon beautiful? My fav parts were the hand-stitched appliques and one-shoulder style that made it all look like a fairy tale.

Jason Wu's been on the scene for a few years (although he's only 26, sheesh!) and those in fashion have definitely seen and felt his presence (and I'm so sure by now he's tired of all the plays on words with his last name, but I couldn't resist).
His designs are always tailored and ladylike - perfect for a first lady, no? Ever since Michelle sported Thakoon and J.Crew (two completely opposite labels!), I've had my eye on her style. I won't compare her to anyone because she's unique, but I will say so long to that Fashion Week invite for Jason Wu - whew! Crowds will be lined up.

Can't Wait to Get Dressed!

Last night I used my new scented paper drawer liners from Soap & Paper Factory - amazing! I have the pattern pictured above (Verbena) because I love the brown and green combo (pink and brown, blue and brown, green and brown - love them all!). There are six sheets, so I chose to line my dresser (six drawers - perfect!), but you can also use them to wrap gifts. Not only is the pattern super-cute (there are five others to choose from), but the scent is incredible! It truly makes getting dressed in the morning heaven!

P.S. Makes a great V-Day treat for yourself for just $28. One of those little luxuries that's totally worth it. ;)

JLo Is Back

With of all of the inauguration events this past weekend, who could miss the outfits? First off, I thought First Lady Michelle's Isabel Toledo yellow inaugural dress was pretty on her, although I'm not a huge fan of yellow myself. It suited her and it suited the event. The monochromatic hue was a wise move as solid colors flatter much more - and it's especially important on TV!

With that being said, I thought Jennifer Lopez looked so cute before the Artist & Athletes Inaugural Ball over the weekend. The Chanel Couture minidress showed off her gams and her playful side. Lately, I've hated (!) JLo's attire (the Golden Globes golden trashbag was a disaster, and I can't stand her hair slicked back in a bun!), but this one brought back her youthful glow (love, love, loving the curls, too). It's timeless, gorgeous Chanel with a playful side. Stunning.

Your Daily Skincare Routine

It's really hard to get down the perfect face routine. There are so many products out there - what is a serum anyway and why do I need it?? I came across the line pur~lisse the other day, and you'll love it. It means pure and smooth in French (isn't that what you want for your delicate face?).

With a blend of Blue Lotus and White Tea (and no synthetic fragrances!), your skin will be feeling revived in no time. The Blue Lotus stimulates circulation and the White Tea battles stress (bring it on!), so your skin stays young-looking. And we all want to look like ourselves 10 years ago, right?

So here's a short and simple routine: Start with the Gentle Soy Milk Cleanser to gently wash your face (morning and night - before bedtime is crucial!). Then, use the Ultra Skin Brightening Serum and follow up with the Essential Daily Moisturizer. It's loaded with spf 30, so you'll need to apply it at least 30 minutes before you step outside. If you're concerned with aging (I think we all are!), also try the Youth Preserve Age-Delaying Skin Serum. It will totally revitalize your skin and combat wrinkles (but make sure you always wear your shades, too!).

Hair Trend: The Twist

Have you ever had a hair crush? I mean a full-on can't-stop-thinking-about-the-perfect-luscious-locks-you've-seen crush? I make sure I catch The City every Monday night. Even though I'm a little disappointed with the amount of fashion coverage versus boy drama (borrrring), I can't say I'm disappointed in watching the clothes, hair, makeup (and all-around, NYC, of course). Olivia Palermo and Whitney Port both love the hippie chic clipped back hairstyle. If you've seen one episode, you know.

I am so obsessed with this look! But you have to be careful. Since most of us don't have perfectly curled locks a la Olivia, it's important not to come off looking way too 60s. Lightly pull your hair back with tiny claw clips (I just bought myself some at Target for $2), but make sure not to pull too tight - loose is the key. And twist - so cute! (Insider tip: I tried it with bobby pins, and trust me the claw clips are the way to go. They will hold all day long - and for extra hold, spray just a bit of hairspray.) Buy the clips in black and brown - colored clips in your hair look ways cheap.

More Secrets to Looking Red-Carpet Ready

With awards season in full swing (the Oscars are just next month!), a girl has got to look her best. I've told you about a few red carpets secrets like the Grippy Steps that keep heels from sliding, well there's another secret (shhh!) out there for your eyes. It's so close to the B-word (Botox, that is), but cheaper than the real thing. It's called HollywoodSecrets 5-Minute Eye Transformation, and it's $89 for 32 applications. You just crack the swab and the formula drips down the cotton, so then you quickly apply it and toss it (so discreet, let me tell you). And it's super-easy - no surgery or appointment needed. Celeb makeup artists like Natalie Miller of Cloutier swear by it - she uses it on Kirsten Dunst to Jennifer Lopez.

Brighten and tighten your face for 8 whole hours at a time. Just slip it in your purse for touch-ups. So perfect for that next party of yours (even if it's not the Oscars, sigh...).

The LBD: Anne Hathaway in Porter Grey

On her way to the Newsweek Roundtable photo shoot, Anne Hathaway rocks it in a Porter Grey black dress. Embellished with a swiss dot pattern and short sleeves (and topped with a cute cropped jacket), the dress is from the Spring 2009 collection. Yes, spring is slowly on the way, sigh. While I love the dress (swiss dots just bring me back to my childhood, ya know?), the hair is a little school marmish, no? I actually like Anne with a longer, sleeker cut (you know, the "new" Andy from The Devil Wears Prada).

Get the dress at shopbop.com for $375 - a great investment. Everyone needs their own version of the LBD. Classic and cool.

Exclusive Interview with Cat Hickland of One Life to Live

Have you ever met someone that within 15 minutes you could just feel the positive energy - you could tell they honestly love life and enjoy what they do? So many people are forced to just do "something" and not really something they're passionate about, which is something I really admire about One Life to Live soap star, Catherine - who goes by Cat - Hickland. Cat is an amazing woman - she has a cosmetics line, Cat Cosmetics and new book, The 30-Day Heartbreak Cure. Did I mention she's been on Broadway and was once married to David Hasselhoff?

I had the chance to catch up with Cat just the other day and although a well-known star who spends most of her time in New York City ("I'm a New York girl," she says), she's still as down-to-earth as ever. So how does she find time to herself? "When I have time, I take it," she says. "I love what I do so it doesn't drain me, it energizes me." And her fav way to relax? Watching TV in bed with her dogs, of course!

Cat developed Cat Cosmetics seven years ago after her experience as a makeup artist (her brother is a prominent hair colorist in Beverly Hills), and since then it's really taken off. Celebrity makeup artist Bruce Wayne uses the "Smolder" shadow/liner duo on celebs like Miley Cyrus, Vanessa Hudgens and Kristin Chenowith. And let me tell you, I love this stuff - a guilty pleasure for your eyes! I've been using this product over and over again. Because it's a duo, it's so handy having them both on the same stick, and the outcome is fantastic. It creates the perfect smokey eye that really glides on smooth. Once it's on, you can smudge away and play with it until you've achieved the perfect look. And Cat's very own fav product? The "Rich" lip gloss because it's the perfect shade of golden pink. "It lights up anyone's face in no more than five seconds. It makes a world of difference."

And her book? I'm not single, but this book is such a great read for all the single ladies (yes, Beyonce's tune pops into my head too!). The 30-Day Heartbreak Cure is a step-by-step daily life guide inspired by one of Cat's own personal break-ups more than 20 years ago after she realized she wasn't functioning well and was continuing to stare blankly at the calendar on the kitchen wall. She realized it was time to do something - time to set goals. A bit of her advice? Don't take yourself too seriously - get out there and have fun. "[Being happy] is not just a state of mind - it really is important to be with people who love you," she says.

For more of Cat's advice on life and love, you can find her book on Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, or major bookstores across the country.

P.S. Of course, I had to ask Cat if she preferred heels or flats. Her answer? "I'm wearing 5-inch heels as we speak, and I rarely wear flats. High heels are where it's at." And you wonder why I like her? ;)

Love Those Earrings

Have you ever bought yourself something for Valentine's Day? I totally recommend it - it's the best. I've done it a lot in the past actually. You can't get any better than designs that include lots of pink and red (my fav colors) sprinkled with hearts, and perhaps diamonds?

That's why I'm crushing on these darling earrings - perfect for V-Day (and all year, of course) - from the line Bing Bang by Anna Sheffield. Bing Bang is known for classic, timeless designs - they're even hand-hewn so you know they're precious. Dainty, adorable and for the girl who loves all things pretty. Can't you just see yourself waltzing in the room in these arrows? Dress them up or down (I would wear with a plain tee for pizazz!). Either way, you're sure to fall in love with them. I did!

P.S. Check out the celebs who love the line too at annasheffield.com!

Celebs Heart Marc by Marc Jacobs

One of my absolute fav lines is Marc Jacobs and he has done a phenomenal job with the more affordable (yet in no way less chic, yet slightly edgier) spin-off Marc by Marc Jacobs. I absolutely adore my copper ballet flats I picked up in the Hamptons a couple of years ago - I will wear them until they will wear no more. (or until I pick up my next replacement pair)

Celebs love the line, too. Check out Kate Moss in her black ankle boots from this fall's collection. The silver hardware on these rugged kicks is true urban chic. (and she proves the point that you can mix brown with black - a point I've been trying to make for years!)

And Gwen Stefani, who always looks glowing, counts the Marc by Marc Jacobs black jaquard side-zip dress as a fav. Seen here at a Domino book launch party in Beverly Hills, I love the flounce hem and the zipper is easily adjustable, depending on your mood (hmmm...sexy mama/conservative mama). Either way, I can't wait to keep an eye out on what spring will bring - Marc is truly one of the most talented designers of our time.

VS PINK Design-A-Tee Contest

Have you ever wanted to be a designer? With Fashion Week approaching next month, the design bug is in the air. Don't you envy those designers off Project Runway - they're fantastic! (This past weekend I sewed three buttons on a coat and clapped my hands with glee!)

Well, now you have your chance at designing your very own Victoria's Secret PINK tee. There are already 7,000 entries so you better hurry! (Click here to see them, but one of my favs is pictured here). From now until February 15, you can go here to design your tee.

The three top designs will be chosen by PINK, but it's up to YOU to pick the winner! And once you've won (because you will...)? Your tee will be sold in stores and online in April, and you'll receive a $500 VS PINK shopping spree.

That has to quite possibly be the best. prize. ever.

P.S. A portion of the proceeds of the winning tee will go to the National Museum of Women in the Arts. Great idea.

Frieda Pinto's Red Carpet Face

Didn't you think Bollywood star (and now American star!) Frieda Pinto looked stunning on the red carpet at the Golden Globes the other night? I mean, c'mon, the girl would look beautiful without any product at ALL, but needless to say I have the exact science of how her look was created (ya know, in case you want to know):

All products used were from Jouer, including a beautiful eye definer (in Vert). Makeup artist Jeffrey Paul used it very close to the lashes to frame her eyes (of which I would die to have, but not sure if they would complement my red hair?). The eye liner was actually green with gold flecks (so superstar!), which made her eyes absolutely pop. Black mascara was used on both top and bottom lashes (I never do the bottom because it's so messy, but seemed to work quite well for Frieda!). The Jouer eyeshadow was used in Amaretto in the crease of the eyelid for definition, and blended with a soft brush.

Foundation and concealer were only used in key spots (if only, if only, sigh...), and a creme highlighter was used on the brow bones and cheek bones. Jeffrey also used this for the lips blended with the monsoon gloss. The deep wine color was incredible with that golden dress! A Golden Globes girl, indeed.

Q&A: Editor of Coutorture, Megan Zanke

Coutorture is a fabulous fashion site and online blog community (I Heart Heels is a member!) with up-to-the-minute trends and tips. I caught up recently with Editor Megan Zanke for her take on the latest fashion trends and her own obsessions. (girl, loving my riding boots too!)

IHH: What’s it like being the editor of one of the largest online fashion communities on the Web?

MZ:
It’s really fun! I’ll tell you, it’s difficult spending 12 hours a day sitting in front of a computer but having such fabulous, thoughtful blogs in our Network makes it a lot easier. Julie Fredrickson and Sarah Conley must be given credit for that, by the way.

IHH: What other blogs or fashion sites do you look to for inspiration?

MZ: Well, I try to read a lot so that my inspiration doesn’t come from one place. Obviously WWD is like life support—not going to pretend otherwise. Oh, and e-commerce sites! I scour them for information about what’s selling, what’s new, what never made it off the runway, etc. You can learn a lot about fashion this way.

IHH: What are your current fashion obsessions at the moment?
MZ:
Leather shorts! As much I dread the thought of my pale legs in public, I do love this trend. Currently (obsessively) hunting for the right pair. My favorite example came from Chloe Spring 09.

IHH: Heels or flats?

MZ:
Oh, heels.

IHH: If you could have one clothing item with you on a deserted island, what would it be?
MZ: Probably riding boots. I’ve been wearing them for years and years through winter and summer and they’ve never failed me.

IHH: Who are you most looking forward to seeing of the Fall 2009 collections this February?

MZ:
It’s too hard to answer that question! Probably Celine, Pucci, Valentino...new creative direction always gives a good show. And, as much as I love New York, Paris Fashion Week is probably the most visually stimulating week of the year.

IHH: Do you have any favorite celebrity style mavens?

MZ:
Not really! I don’t really follow celebrity too much. I mean, I know who everyone is because you learn that stuff by osmosis, but I don’t really keep up with it. Honestly, I think the fashion you see on the street or on street style Web sites is much more impressive. I aspire to be the gal I passed on the subway more often than, like, Ashley Olsen. No offense to her or anything. :)

IHH: And a few labels you love?

MZ:
YSL, Lanvin, Chloe, Miu Miu....don’t ask me what I wear, unfortunately you’ll get an entirely different answer!

Stacked Rings: Love Them

Ahhh....love is already in the air. Can you believe it is already almost time for Valentine's Day? Which means it's time to start preparing for what you really want, right? (No, that's not what I mean - mind out of the gutter!) Go ahead and give him a little nudge because otherwise? You might end up with a huge bag of potpourri (I'm not judging, I'm just saying...)

So, you've heard of Sretsis (sisters spelled backwards), right? They've created a too-cute-for-words accessories line, Matina Amanita, for V-Day with rings that look just like those darling little candies (you know, the ones everyone loves to give, but hates to eat?). You get two rings, plus this precious box for $88 - available by special order at matinaamanita.com. Stack them. Kiss them. Love them. There's no love-me-not about it.

P.S. A bag of the infamous heart-shaped candies is included. XOXO

Tinsley's New Bag Line

Tinsley Mortimer is one my favorite NY socialites. Why? Because she's so into fashion (don't you love that red belt she's wearing in this photo?) she even has her own line of super-cute handbags. Check out my favorite below (the Winnie) from the Samantha Thavasa by Tinsley Mortimer Spring 09 Collection.

This bag is the perfect spring companion if ever I saw one. The bright orange hue and playful ruffles are ideal for (a) strolling down the boardwalk by the sea, (b) taking a jaunt through the park (Central, if you're lucky!) or (c) attending your next fashion show. Ok, let's be realistic. If you don't have a boardwalk or a fashion show around, this beautiful bag is a keeper for even a trip to the freaking grocery store! I kno
w I wouldn't think twice. Retail: $390 and available at Samantha Thavasa boutique in NYC

Go Red for Women & Your Lips

I've long been a huge fan of Bare Escentuals' Buxom Lips. It's such a fab gloss - a great boost for those kissable lips. It plumps, moisturizes and adds dazzling shine. It literally leaves your pout tingling and you can feel it working as you apply.

And now, come February and March, there's a special new shade - Charity ($18). It's a pretty cherry color (in time for V-day, of course!) and was created in honor of the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women campaign through the Bare Escentuals BE Cares philanthropy. Profits from sales of the gloss will help fight heart disease, the number one killer of women in the country.

So, "Go Red" for women - and for beautiful lips!

P.S. Snap up this limited-edition gloss at Bare Escentuals boutiques and Sephora nationwide.

Red Carpet Style Weapons from a Golden Globes Stylist!

So what did you think of the Golden Globes fashion last night (I say fashion because if it wasn't for the fashion, it would be a total snoozer)? I thought overall it was a little blah with no one taking too many risks. My favs though? Miley Cyrus in flowing Marchesa, Cameron Diaz in hot pink haute couture Chanel and Demi Moore in nude Dior (wow, she's still got it, no?).

Tara Swennen styled both Miley and Rumer Willis (Ms. Golden Globes, who looked not half-bad herself), and she offered up a few of her red carpet "secret style weapons" that you can take to your own event (wedding, party, baby shower, the list goes on):

**Solutions for Sling Backs

The best trick for slippery sling backs is ‘Airplus for Her’ Strappies. They are thin adhesive strips that you can place on the inside of the heel strap to help them stay on.

**Solutions for Strappy Sandals

Many people become uncomfortable in killer strappy high heels due to the lack of arch support. ‘Airplus for Her’ makes Hug My Heels a gel insert that adheres to the shoe and helps in creating that needed support while being virtually invisible to onlookers.

Love the tips, Tara! And good luck, girls, at your own "red carpet" event!

Bride Wars: Fashion Must-Haves

I saw Bride Wars yesterday and can I say that ALL of the critics (every single one of you - shame on you!) have it wrong. I loved this movie so much I smiled the whole time. For me, a good movie means Kate Hudson, New York, good fashion and a little romance thrown in there. Besides the super-cute plot line, here's what else I'm stuck on:

1. The trench coat. Choose the more conservative neutral or go green like Anne (love it! and check out her patterned tights).

2. Kate's bangs. I think they make her look chubbier, but they're so undeniably cute, I long to cut mine the same way.

3. Anne's braids. I love the way stars are becoming so girlish with their locks (I am also obsessed with the Olivia Palermo look from The City.) If only I didn't have pesky side bangs - it messes up the whole braid thing for me.

4. The Bags. Are you a brown or black bag girl? I adored Anne's look throughout the movie, but this time it was Kate's shiny black patent handbag I couldn't stop drooling over.
