Become Sienna Miller Chic

Sienna Miller's style has always been one of my favs. It's on-trend, a bit risky and always chic. Don't get me wrong, I love the classics (skinny jeans, tapered jackets, cardigans and patent heels) just as much as the next fashionista, but I love the fact that she's a little edgy and unexpected. Creative types rejoice!

This DVF (Diane von Furstenberg, of course) mini looks so cute paired with black leggings. But my favorite (and my go-to obsession) are her supremely superb and teeteringly tall black booties. Hello! They look to be suede and I am crushing on them madly (sounds like something Sienna might say herself, right?)!

Since being pregnant, leggings have been my no-fail attire. Just throw on a cascading top (rule: it must cover your bottom, please!) and your choice of shoes. Heels look so chic, while flats look demure and sweet. Take your pick, but leggings and booties are always on the style list - year round, pregnant or rail-thin (which is never really in style, per se). People.com readers hated this outfit, which means, you know what? Wear what you like - and add a little confidence to any outfit and your style will go a long way.

Baby Blue is the New Black

Today was a big day for me (and it didn't involve shopping - gasp!) (although my new favorite color is now BLUE!). Yep, it's a bouncing baby boy!!!

Of course, I'm over the moon and haven't stopped perusing my fav online baby shops all day. (By the way, (disclaimer) this is not my baby or a baby I know; just thought it was cute as can be!)

So, now the fun begins (think: blue and brown all the way). We're just so blessed everything has gone so well up to this point, and can't wait to meet our new little man. Whether his preference is Cole Haan or Theory (mama's hoping Target?) we'll have to see!

Fashion Mavens Rejoice! Gilt Fuse Launches Soon

Ok gals, I am uber-excited about this one! Everyone's buzzing about it. Are you as addicted to the Gilt Groupe "online sample sales" as I am? While I don't always buy something, I absolutely LOVE to peruse the tons of gorgeous finds at much cheaper prices. A Marc by Marc Jacobs sale on a Monday? Consider me out for the day! It makes me happy to think I can actually buy something cute and designer at a fraction of the price (for some reason, slashes through a price just make me all giddy inside...Hey, I know this is a problem, but at least I recognize!).

August 12 (at 12 p.m. EST to be exact), Gilt Fuse launches and I can't wait! Chicettes, these designers and prices are going to go fast (sales will be held in 36-hour increments), I can bet you. Think less expensive Plenty by Tracy Reese, Kova & T, Modern Amusement, CC Skye, TKO Orologi, RJ Graziano and BCBG - up to 70% off (my eyes are popping out of my head!).

If you're a member of Gilt Groupe already (you are, right?), you already have a membership to Gilt Fuse. If you don't (shame on you!), you can e-mail membership@gilt.com for more info. Tell them I sent ya! (wait...why am I sending you? you're my competition!)

Nine West Launches Vintage America Collection

Nine West has to be one of the most celebrated "go-to" shoe brands around. I mean, I can remember always having at least one pair of Nine Wests around (I wore the heck out of a pair of black strappy stilettos to one prom after another, one dinner after another and even my sorority pref night!). They're classic and last forever, not to mention so cute!

That's why I was super-excited to see the new all-American Vintage America Collection for fall. Nine West has got it going on! I love to dress up in the fall, but then I love to be casual, too. This line has that worn-in laidback look while still being chic at the same time. Three of my all-time fashion favs are ballet flats, high-heel booties and tunics. All of these are rugged, yet sophisticated. It's true that you can be chic and still be a little on the slouchy side. You'll hardly look like you're trying (and we won't tell anyone you are!).

P.S. It's a talent contest! Each week until Sept. 1, submit your original song and video here for a chance to record your very own single through Hickory Records, a division of Sony/ATV Publishing. Might wanna don some Vintage for good luck, no?

London Gets Hip with Brian Reyes

This past Wednesday, London became just a little more fab at the photocall for G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra. So many heels I would die to wear right now (check out those booties - squeal!!!) - and dresses and belts. I still don't know whether it's a sweet little boy or girl yet (my hunches say I'll be putting away my play stilettos for now, but just a guess!), and all of these chic outfits have got me in a tizzy!

Rachel Nichols (center) wears a classic sheath by Brian Reyes, one of my fav designers. The asymmetrical design does it for me every time and the length is sexy, but not too much. This dress could easily transition into fall - and really that's what I'm looking for right now, aren't you? With only one more month of true "summer" left, I'm ready to start thinking "tights, cardigans and deep hues." (love, love, love the fall fashion season!)

The other outfits here are totally nautical and I've never been much of a fan (feels too over-the-top and kitschy, maybe?). However, I'm drooling over this red striped dress, complete with a statement belt (a must!). A little short for me (especially when you add those killer booties!), but even so I'm still loving it on her.

Pretty (er, Sizzling) in Pink

Tomorrow is JLo's birthday (40th birthday!) and she still looks fab. Jenny's got it going on in this bubbly pink (mini!) sheath (straight out of Palm Beach, no?!) and I'm drooling over it. Who doesn't want to look pretty in pink, right? So who is she wearing - I want to know, so comment if you do! You know, for my 28th Malibu Barbie birthday in September (laughing out loud).

The studs are the cutest amount of detail; I'm not one for going overboard on too much design, especially on such little material as this. But, I promise, you can never go wrong with the simple, classic sheath shape. Pair it with a light cardigan for cooler days, and even transfer it into the fall or winter (gasp!) with a pair of cool tights (in a neutral hue, of course). Silver or gold hoops are just the right earring pick. And golden platforms - yes!?

The Newest Bare "Essentials"

For those of you who read I Heart Heels regularly, you know one of my beauty obsessions is anything Bare Escentuals. It's the coolest invention on the planet, in fact. I used to be completely sold on matte foundation that covered every inch of my poor skin - it was caked on and it wasn't pretty.

With mineral foundation/powder/shadow, you still get the complete coverage but not all the extra "goop." It feels light on the skin (my fav part!) and lasts all day (and I'm not kidding!). So if you've tried the foundation and you've tried the shadow (yada, yada) what else is there to it? Well, one of my favorite things about the line is they are always inventing and trying to
get better. If you use the Mineral Veil (loose powder), you should def try the Hydrating Mineral Veil ($19). It just came out this spring/summer and it's amazing! You can literally feel the extra moisture as you apply and your skin will just drink it up. I like to use it after I apply foundation and then at the end as a "finishing touch." I've been using it with the Hydrate & Brighten Brush ($30) and it's the perfect tool to translate the powder onto the skin (the brush is light and fluffy just like the powder!). And for on-the-go, there's a Refillable Buffing Brush ($28) that's so freaking handy for when you're at the mall shopping or at dinner with friends. Just (excuse yourself to the restroom, of course. I hate people who apply at the table!) make sure the end is filled with powder, click the dial once to release the brush, twice to release the powder and then buff quickly all over your face and catch that extra shine.

Now, going back to foundation. There's a new kid in town. If you LOVE bareMinerals foundation like I do, you should try the new Matte version ($28) - just to try it. It's still got that great mineral feel to it (light! fluffy!) without harsh chemicals, etc., but with a little more coverage (hence, "matte"). It even improves your complexion with the RareMinerals Active Soil Complex (it wasn't just that Cetaphil; I thought it was!). I admit I'm more of a fan of the original, but this one is very good if you need that extra skincare boost. Get it now at Sephora.com, and everywhere else in September.

And last but not least of the newest essentials, I've never been so in love with an eyeliner in my life! Back in the 80s, my older sis used to apply bright blue liner to the inside of her lids and I thought how does she do that?? Well, I don't know what miracle product she used back then, but the Buxom Inside Eyeliner ($14) is the tool for the inner rim of the eye. It even has a built-in sharpener at the other end and I wear it on both my upper outside lid and inner rims. They're so thin and easy to apply - it makes my make-up routine soooo much quicker. The color I'm digging is Sapphire (a teal indigo - it really opens up the eyes and is great if you have green like me!). Be watching come August, when these are available everywhere. It will be your new addiction (next to heels, of course).

Escape to Morocco

I'm such a fan of trying out new shower gels. In fact, it's one of my beauty obsessions. And the more and more "round" I get until December, the more and more I feel like pampering myself with something new and exotic.

The past couple of weeks? I've been escaping to Morocco with True Blue Spa from Bath & Body Works. Isn't the collection gorgeous? I have to admit, when I first started using the Saffron & Fig gel ($15), I wasn't too keen on it. The shower filled with Moroccan spices that I wasn't quite used to (I'm usually a fruity/floral type.). But you know what? Once I started running my errands around town, I literally asked myself - what is that smell? I like it! And it was the Saffron & Fig I had applied that morning. Lesson here? The scent of something in the air can be very much different than after it goes on your skin. That's why you should always give a scent a shot for at least a few days before turning on it.

I also tried the Moroccan Tea & Cucumber gel ($15) and it was amazing from the get-go. Green tea, refreshing mint, soothing cucumber. Talk about a true spa experience right from your own home! You truly feel clean and refreshed and ready to take on the day (shopping, anyone?).

Still interested? Here's the complete collection:

Honey & Date Body Yoghurt ($17.50)

Sweet Fig & Argan Body Lotion ($16.50)

Moroccan Tea & Cucumber Shower Gel ($15.00)

Saffron & Fig Shower Gel ($15.00)

Rose Petal & Orange Flower Shower Cream ($15.00)

Cedarwood & Spice Warming Body Scrub ($15.00)

Exclusive with Amanda Brooks of Hellhounds

You may not be familiar with this actress/chicette for now, but just wait because she's going to get hot quick! I had the chance to catch up with the U.K. to L.A. transplant Amanda Brooks this afternoon (what a sweetie!) to discuss all things heels and Hellhounds, her new made-for-TV movie out on SyFy July 19.

In L.A. now for about three years, Amanda's loving the Hollywood life and says (in her gorgeous Brit accent) she's already made so many good friends. And she's gotten to know all the names in town - you know, Madison, Barney, Alice & Olivia? A fashion lover herself, she recites her favorite L.A. stores to me: Maxfield, Hillary Rush, Intermix and Curve (and the go-tos listed above, of course). Most of all, Amanda admits, "I buy a lot of vintage." She counts Catwalk, a vintage store on Fairfax, as one of her lovable vintage haunts. And, of course, every fashionista must have accessories, and she tells me "I've horded lots of things." The one item she can't stand to get rid at the moment though is a gigantic cocktail ring - perfect for day or night.

While filming Hellhounds in Romania, Amanda had the chance to model some pretty wicked outfits. Think Grecian goddess! "I had three changes, and one was a long, purple Grecian dress with a cloak. It was really stunning!" And to think she braved the mountains and caves in freezing-cold weather in these royal numbers - that's a true fashionista for you.

P.S.
Amanda's only 5'5" so when she wears heels, she goes for the gold. We couldn't stop thinking about the flourescent pink Stella McCartney pair she mentioned in the interview - how delightful!

Trend Alert! Rompers

Rompers were supposed to be the "in" trend all season, but to be honest I haven't noticed too many around town after seeing them on the racks just after Fashion Week (and the name sort of reminds me of this show I watched as a baby called "Romper Room." Ok, I"m dating myself!). But lately, I've started to notice a few more celebs rocking the daring style in both pants and shorts. So does that mean it's totally in vogue now - would you wear one?

To me, they look comfy as can be! And seem to hide things in all the right areas. Seems you might find one in a simple color though like black or brown if you're going to venture. And definitely dress it up a little. Anything with extra fabric makes you feel more comfy, but you don't want to risk coming off like a complete slob. (Yes, in essence what looks like less effort, usually takes more.) Heels, please!

I like how Maria Menounos wore a beautiful platinum collar necklace with her jumpsuit and dressed it up even more with strappy sandals, a clutch and added nice, soft curls to her hair.

Beyonce looks incredible here because I am absolutely drooling over this brown shorter version. Meow! The strapless style is perfect for summer, but it's all in the details. Like the drawstring and pockets that make me squeal with jealousy!

P.S. Beyonce's a hit here, except the shoes. What a shoe shopper's nightmare! Unless these slide on and off easily, forget it. Go with a less restricting (less scary?) style.

Q-Tips with Pizazz

I don't know about you, but I think Q-tips are the essential beauty tool. If you don't have them in your bathroom already - what's wrong with you?! (jk!) They truly are great for blending and touching up make-up in the mornings and perfect for when you make that stupid eyeliner mistake (you've been there, right?)!

I also like to use them to create the a smoky eye look or even to apply lip gloss! So all you Q-tips lovers alike will rejoice to see there's new packaging that makes it so much easier to sit on your countertop - Q-tips Vanity Packs. Choose from blue, orange, yellow or purple for just $3.19 a box (285 per box). (I've already been stocking up for my mini chicster!)

Here's what celebrity make-up artist Mally Roncal had to say about how to use them:
"Give your neutral eye shadows a vacation! Think outside the box and try a bold plum or teal eyeliner to line your upper lashes. Use a Q-tips cotton swab to blend the lines for a soft, modern look."

For more about what others are saying, click here.

Hayden Hearts Nancy Gonzalez

Had to post on the latest Hayden Panettiere spottings - she's been out and about promoting her new movie, I Love You, Beth Cooper. (By the way, why couldn't Seventeen sponsor a cool movie premiere the summer I worked there, huh??)

She's been looking so downright pretty. I love her she's just letting her locks flow freely - whether curled or wavy - because it suits her age and her face. I think the Andy & Debb (they showed at Fashion Week this past season) white asymmetrical frock is uber-classy and the Zac Posen get-up is super-hot (I adore this little number!!), but check out the clutch she carries in both pics (one is the premiere and the other is an appearance on Live with Regis & Kelly.) It's a pink python (!) Nancy Gonzalez clutch (I heart her stuff as well!). Guess it shows it's not just us! When stars really heart something, they aren't afraid to show up more than once with it, either!

Shimmer This Way

Whew, what a busy, busy week of s-h-o-p-p-i-n-g - like crazy! Sorry I haven't had much time to post - I never knew "browsing" for swivel gliders would take so much energy out of me. ;)

Now to my latest beauty test - the new Chapstick True Shimmer ($2.79). You're probably thinking Chapstick? What a glorious topic to read about today, Jules. Well, it is! If you're a fan of the tried and true lip balm (so handy in both the summer and wintertime for dry, cracked lips - I always keep a tube nearby), you'll adore the new shimmer. And it comes in four "flavors."

Tropical (I've been using this one religiously - smells just like a Pina Colada!)
Bontanical Berry
Peppermint Rush
Blended Fruit Sherbet

It makes applying lip balm so much more fun, ya know? It moisturizes, softens and gives lips that nice little, sexy sheen.

You can pick these up at any of your local convenience stores across the country. Smack!

P.S. Read here for what others are saying about them!

The Hot Summer Dress

Summer is all about having fun and the Serappi dress by Shoshanna screams it! Maria Menounos and Kristen Bell both love theirs - do you?

Here's what I think. Stripes can be tricky, but when done correctly, they're not so bad (don't be scared, in other words!). When they're varying colors and widths, for instance, they're pretty flattering. And it's all in the cut of the outfit, really. Maria's strapless version and Kristen's one-shoulder style are both super-cute ways to wear a summer dress. And you can never go wrong when it's nipped in at the waist - show that figure you've worked so hard to get!

P.S. You can find the Serappi for $360 at select Bergdorf Goodman stores.

Trend Alert! Round Sunglasses

Hope everyone had a happy and safe 4th sporting your chicest red, white and blue! ;) The past few months I've been a little preoccupied with onesies, bonnets and blankies (picking out a nursery is hard work!), but never fear my eyes are still on those Louboutins and Choos that I can't wait to get back into a later date (shoe stalking, I like to call it.)

Some items I can brush up on in the meantime are great accessories. Seriously, great accessories make an outfit (something like, the future's so bright, I gotta wear shades?). And whether you agree with me or not, I'm loving the new round sunglasses trend. Jessica Alba is ever-the-trendsetter (always) and I love this whit
e pair she wore in Bev Hills the other day. (Is it me or is she looking much thinner?) While I'll prob skip them for now (a round body + round glasses is a trend I'm not so sure about, I do encourage all you trendsetters to set forth...and multiply! As in - when you love something, buy it in white, black, brown, etc. Go on now!

P.S. I found these white round shades at Forever 21 (an amazing spot to find accessories!) for just $5.80. Don't they look just like Jess's?!

Fourth of July Stunners

Happy early 4th, lovelies! I'm sure you all have tons of plans tomorrow (besides reading my blog posts), so let's get to it today. I'm a fan of all Bath & Body Works has to offer (they even sell Molton Brown now, did you know that? I'm addicted to that stuff!).

Over the past few weeks, I've been sampling out what the new American Grown Collection ($7.50 each) has to offer - and I like it! I've mainly been using the Washington Apple shower gel and I can't get enough (i.e. it's all gone now!). These gels (and hand soaps) are all pure, natural extracts grown on American soil. What better way to show support for this great country, eh? And, of course, the bottles are absolutely gorge - wouldn't mind displaying these in my shower caddy or on the kitchen counter.

The other product I'm crushing on this week is from Smashbox - the Jet Set Eyeliner ($22) in Navy Blue (Midnight Purple shown here). I told you I had found "the one" last week, and this is it (so much better than that powdery, pointy L'Oreal stick I tried to use!). It's cream-based, which I love (such precision when used with a nice, thin eyeliner brush), and it seems to stay put for quite awhile. The pretty blue hue isn't something you might normally venture to wear, but trust this girly. It will totally make your eyes pop (my husband even noticed today - gasp!). The best part for the summer? It's waterproof! Now jet set on your way...

Exclusive Chat! Katy Allen, wife of American Idol Kris Allen

With the American Idol tour starting this weekend, it's amazing I had some time to catch up with Katy Allen, wife of winner, Kris Allen. Of course, I was crazy-excited to get a chance to chat fashion with her because Katy has always looked super-chic on the show! So how long does it take her to get ready and how does she shop? I've got the answers for you here (who knew Kris was so picky?!)!

I am most happy when I am wearing my... Riding boots - They are so comfortable and worn in - I wear them way too much.

My favorite drugstore beauty brand is... Revlon - I love their eyeliner!

I am absolutely addicted to... My eyelash curler - I have the straightest lashes.

Three designer clothing brands I drool over are... Catherine Malandrino, Alice and Olivia and Milly!

I own __pairs of jeans. I have no idea...but I have about five I tend to wear the most.

If I could be a shoe, I would be a... Gladiator sandal; trendy but casual. : )

My typical morning routine takes about ____minutes. An hour - or more if I'm really doing my hair because it's so long!

When it comes to style, I like to... Be comfortable but also take some risks!

My worst beauty habit is... Going to bed with eye makeup on when I'm really tired.

For a night out to dinner with Kris I might wear... A flirty dress and flats or boots (I hardly wear heels around him because I don't like to feel taller).

When I shop for Kris, I generally buy... Nothing! He has a stylist that does MUCH better than me! : ) Kris is actually really picky so it's hard to shop for him.

My fav celebrity's style is probably... Nicole Richie - I love how effortlessly and uniquely she dresses.

Thanks for your time, Katy! Best of luck with everything - we hope to bump into you in the shoe department sometime. - xoxo
