Whiny Wednesday: Skin So Soft
Well, it’s almost been a month (wow!), and baby C. has his first “ouchie,” an “almost” eye infection. It’s not really an infection, but gosh I feel so bad for him. I can’t bare to see him feel bad, and he’s not really even sick! I’ve got a loooong road ahead of me, huh?
He’s already feeling much better since the doctor, whew. But, ever since he came home from the hospital he’s had that newborn dry skin around his feet and ankles. Love the smell of that Johnson’s baby lotion they give you – you can’t beat that baby smell! But, more of a miracle-worker is Burt’s Bees buttermilk lotion ($7) from the Baby Bee collection. I received a sample from the company, and it’s amazing. The natural ingredients are so gentle on his skin, and it actually contains soothing buttermilk (a natural skin cleanser and softener). If you’re a fan of Burt’s Bees (which I am!), you’ll love Baby Bee just as much. (Especially those sensitive skin folks like this family!)
So what else? Those pesky little “rashes” that tend to pop up on baby C.’s face. I know you’re not supposed to go overboard applying too many lotions and creams, so just using this one did the trick. It’s California Baby‘s Calming Botanical Moisturizing Cream ($9.99). I actually received this sample just as I was worried about his little red spots – what perfect timing. I’m not kidding, but within just a few hours the spots looked so much better and some of them totally disappeared. He didn’t cry at all when I applied either, which he tends to do with some creams (I’m convinced it’s the French Lavender aromatherapy!). It’s also really great for babies with skin problems like eczema. I think I’m going to try it next on baby C.’s cradle cap (aka: flaky scalp).
P.S. Did you know you can also try the Calming cream as a shaving cream or even under make-up as a moisturizer??

I'm a mom myself so I know how it feels when our kids are in discomfort and we just want to make everything all right for them. I love Burt's Bees, too, although I haven't used this particular product. Might check this out.
