NY Fashion Week F/W 2010: BCBG Max Azria
I was so pumped to receive an invite to the BCBG Max Azria fall runway show this season (ok, suuuuper-pumped!), but sad I couldn’t be there myself (September awaits!!). BCBG is quite one of my favorite labels ev-er, and so I was glad uber-photographer R. of The Greyest Ghost volunteered to cover the show for I Heart Heels. She captured some great images, and I’m not trying to downplay this collection or hurry this year along one bit, but it makes me loooong for September when (hopefully!) I get to see the show for myself. Here are the deets on this year’s amazing collection:
Last week, BCBG Max Azria helped kick off Fall 2010 Fashion Week with the first show of the season in Bryant Park’s largest space, the Tent. Designers Max and Lubov Azria were inspired by the recession, and created a fall collection based on “what the customer wants” and not their own “fantasy”.
The result was one of the most cohesive collections sent down the runway this season. An ultra gray, black, navy and white, and yellow color palette dominated the looks. Asymmetrical dresses and tops were cut from color-blocked silks and cinched with thick, elastic belts. The trousers were slouchy; a mix between men’s suiting and harem pants. Nearly every look was layered with black sheer long sleeve tees, which Mrs. Azria said allows the looks to transition between the cooler final days of summer to fall.
The Azrias may have been influenced by practicality this season, but their collection was anything but boring. Surprise tulle accents and sequins transformed the line’s daywear dresses into perfect holiday-party-approved looks for night.

I'm lovin' the patterns on the dresses! The dark blue/grey/brown color palette is just calming to the eyes.
