Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week S/S 2011: Nanette Lepore
The first look didn’t even come down the runway and you already felt the rhythm of paradise echoing in your soul from the live set of singer John Forté and his band. Right on cue with the melodic beat, looks sailed effortlessly down the runway. Swimwear with a retro flair opened the show in vibrant shades that gave the collection an overall chipper demeanor.
Aside from a playful color palette that was anchored with easy neutral tones were the airy silhouettes that had a relaxed foundation to them. This is what people want from Nanette Lepore – and from a Spring collection, for that matter. Pieces that fit their lifestyle, and believe me, people vacationing is a lifestyle! So maybe you actually have to work, bummer, which means you aren’t spending March through June rounding out the South of France. I’m pretty sure popping one of these pieces into the spring work wardrobe will have you feeling sunnier than that stuffy, old, corporate blazer ever could.
