Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week F/W 2011: Christian Siriano
By Tiffany Reo, Guest Blogger and Fashion Week Correspondent
Hope you aren’t afraid of the dark because if you are a Christian Siriano fan like moi, you may need a flashlight for his Fall 2011 collection. Black was the root of his palette. With his limited color scheme you could see his focus enhance amazing details like texture on texture and shapes that were slightly sexy while being demure all in the same breath. The collection had a very chic, sophisticated essence, while also being utterly mysterious. His final pieces, though, were 100-percent Siriano. With just a hint of olive and mauve, floor-sweeping skirts and red carpet gowns came out like a burst of fireworks into the night.
Obviously this is I Heart Heels, so we have to speak of the shoes. To the eye, they were fall-off-the-runway stunning, however, no one really wants you to fall off the runway. There were a few slips, stumbles and one major spill that made the crowd gasp collectively. Regardless, the shoes were something we will end up coveting – and we might actually be able to acquire them because they are part of the Christian Siriano for Payless Gold collection.
The collection is his Runway-to-Reality line for Payless that will result in a collection of about five shoes and two handbags. All styles are inspired by the shoe and handbag designs seen on the runway. The exclusive Fall collection will be in stores in September. Squeal – as Julie would say! Now, that’s worth falling off the runway for!
“This season I was heavily inspired by nature – plants and animals in authentic settings – and you can see this expressed in the darker tones and hoofed-toe detailing of the shoes, as well as the beautiful petal embellishments on the dress pumps.” — Christian Siriano
