Neutrogena Helps Fight Skin Cancer with New Celeb PSA
Yesterday I went to the dermatologist to have my 6-month check-up for the skin cancer I discovered on my leg last year. I’m happy to say I’m skin cancer free (clapping hands!)! I was lucky because I spotted it very quickly (thus it wasn’t a very big or harmful spot yet) and it was able to be removed right then and there in less than five minutes. That’s why it’s sooooo important to check out your body all the time, especially if you’re like me with fair skin and lots of freckles and spots here and there. Another important thing? Wear sunscreen! I can’t stress it enough, and one of these days you will certainly be thankful you listened.
“If I could say one thing to teens that want to go out and get a tan, I would say don’t do it.” — Miranda Cosgrove
This summer, Neutrogena has teamed up with Jennifer Garner, Miranda Cosgrove and Gabrielle Union for a special message about sun exposure and how we should all practice safe sun habits (a great message for many of us prepping to head to the beach, including yours truly!). Check out the one-minute video above…I love how Neutrogena is getting involved. What a great brand to spread the word in such a cool way, no? Now, let me leave you with some tidbits of info I thought were interesting….enjoy! (P.S. I can’t believe so many people are still using tanning beds!)
Doesn’t matter your skin color!
As few as 48 percent of melanomas in African Americans are diagnosed at an early stage, compared to 74 percent in Hispanics and 84 percent in Caucasians.
It’s pretty common!
Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States with more than 3.5 million skin cancers in over two million people diagnosed annually.
Yet, only one in five people wear sunscreen on a daily basis, even though 94 percent of Americans know that prolonged exposure to the sun can cause skin damage and even skin cancer.

Glad to hear that you're cancer-free!
I have fair skin, so I know exactly what you're talking about. I'm constantly checking up to make sure that everything is okay :/
