Rachel Roy: Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week S/S 2012
By Sarah Kleinhenz, Fashion Week Correspondent
I really looked forward to seeing the Rachel Roy spring presentation. I’ve always loved her clothes because she’s just so sophisticated and classic. This presentation was all I had hoped it would be and more. It was one of those collections I could actually see myself and my fabulous friends (and readers!) wearing. Rachel said this collection “embodied a modern simplicity through the balance of masculine and feminine shapes.” This created romantic, yet refined moments. She also used black and white to add contrast to the gorgeous, soft pastel and floral palettes.
Using mostly neutral hues, RR added pops of color to some of her looks. I’m a huge fan of the cinnamon pajama pants. I could totally see those going from casual to work to a night out with fun-loving girlfriends. That, to me, is what’s so great about RR’s clothes. They’re so versatile, that I could literally create at least 50 different combos from these pieces. That’s something that, I think, consumers are really looking for these days. Something that can work in more than one way. You pay a lot for an item, so you should be able to wear it numerous ways. If you’re a classic, more simplistic fashionista like myself, then you’ll ADORE Rachel Roy’s spring collection. Actually you’ll adore all of her clothes because you just can’t go wrong when wearing Rachel Roy.
