Lubov Azria on This Summer's Trends

Happy (Lucky FABB) Monday! While I'm not in Santa Monica today for the fashion and beauty blogger conference (insert major sad face), I *am* glued to the livestream here watching panel after panel all day long (it's that good, folks! the conference in September was beyond, so if you're a blogger, you should watch, starting at 8 a.m. PST).

With that being said, I'm super (and I mean SUPER) excited to feature one of my fav designers of all time - Lubov Azria, Chief Creative Officer of BCBGMAXAZRIA Group (which includes: BCBGMaxAzria, BCBGeneration, Herve Leger by Max Azria and Max and Cleo). I'm one happy girl to be able to ask Lubov my burning summer fashion questions (you knew you needed a raffia wedge this summer, right?). So, here goes!

I Heart Heels: Stripes are very chic, but sometimes hard to pull off. What are some easy ways to incorporate them in our spring wardrobe?
Lubov Azria: Pairing bold stripes with a classic, solid white or sticking to traditional silhouettes can help in pulling off any courageous striped pattern. A horizontally striped sweater or a casual striped top with cool cutouts and linear patterns can create an effortless relaxed look with an update.
IHH: Now that spring is in full force and summer's approaching, what are a couple of shoe styles we can wear for both day and night?
LA: A heeled sandal with raffia detailing and a stand-out wedge in a metallic or bright color are great shoe options for both day and night.

IHH: I personally love white! Can everyone wear it?
LA: White is a perfect choice for spring and summer events, and also a great go-to for day to night wear - in a draped, feminine silhouette or a masculine, crisp style, like the perfect white shirt dress!
IHH: Pops of color are huge this season! How are your brands embracing this trend?
LA: Color is the most important trend for the spring/summer collections. People naturally gravitate toward color because it makes them happy after a dark fall or long winter. Take classic elements and pair them with something fresh and modern. Pair a brightly-colored power skirt with a neutrally-hued exotic print. Add that bright dash of color for an authoritative statement. Accessories in bold colors such as an oversized belt, statement shoes or interesting jewelry is always one of my favorite ways to add an unexpected pop.

IHH: What's your personal fav spring/summer trend and why?
LA: Layered, draped silhouettes, wide-leg pants that are fuller and more fluid, slightly oversized blouses and jackets with an androgynous, unstructured cut.

And when else can you wear a tropical floral pant with a striped blazer?
