Reem Acra is known for her looks that celebrities such as Olivia Wilde and Angelina Jolie wear on the red carpet. This is particularly fitting since aspects like Angelina's fierce and risk-taking personality coupled with an undeniable femininity were two of the main characteristics in RA's spring/summer 2013 show.
Some might say there was an overabundance of the color black in this collection; the designer admits it was influenced by Aaron Young's motorcycle-inspired works. Personally, I thought the darker colors and more severe lines of some of the pieces acted as a very interesting juxtaposition against the brighter colors and fluid curves of other pieces. Details such as low-draped backs, sheer overlays and plunging necklines referenced a traditional Grecian influence, while sheer panels that ran the length of other gowns were unmistakably contemporary.
