Whiny Wednesday: Kiwi Crate is Endless DIY Fun
If you have a toddler (or a kid between 3-7, really)…and especially if you stay at home with him or her (or them!)…you need to know two words: Kiwi Crate. I actually found out about the brand via Twitter (imagine that) through another mom, so I’m hoping my own post to you will encourage you to try it…it really is the coolest invention. If you sign up for a Kiwi Crate subscription, each month for just $19.95, you get the cutest box (err, crate!) full of fun DIY projects. This month, we were able to try it out on our own and such fun was the “Busy with Bugs” crate…omg!
It arrived at the perfect time as it was spring break here and I was searching for something fun to do with little C. When I told him there was a box that arrived (under his name!) with lots of projects in it, he was so intrigued. This little guy loves to create things! And it’s so much fun for this right-brained mama to create things with him…what a great way to bond.
The first thing little C. wanted to do, of course, was get into those sponge paints…so that we did! Our bugs were rainbow-hued since little C. wanted to dip the sponges into each of the three colors at once…gotta love that creativity. The next day, we made our very own firefly (see above), complete with a glow stick on the inside that allows it to glow in the dark (aka in little C’s bathroom). It also came with a string so we can “fly” the firefly. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve done this in the past week. Flying our firefly sure is fun! 🙂
If you’re looking to buy a gift rather than purchase this for yourself, it’s such a great idea (ahem, anyone reading this?). You can sign up by 3, 6 or 12 months at a time. They also make adorable party favors! Whichever you choose, this is a mom must-try.
P.S. I absolutely love how everything you need is included in the box (even a pair of safety scissors in your first one). It makes it so much easier to DIY, since gathering supplies is half the battle!
