How I Styled My Bump: Winter Maxi (+ Giveaway!)
Hey, gals! It’s finally Thanksgiving week and brrrrr is it cold here! Remember how I told you it might snow and ice here? Nada. We got pretty much nothing (wah), which means it will probably all come in February around my due date, right? 🙂 I’m nearing the home stretch now, and finalizing baby L’s nursery over the next month. I’m also finalizing all of her “gear” (this little girl is a lucky lil’ thing…can’t wait to show you her purple stroller), and starting to really, really show. Drats. It’s a fun feeling being pregnant, but gosh it sure makes getting dressed challenging, especially for us fashion-minded mamas-to-be. Chic and comfy is one hard line to walk…oh, and now warm! That’s why I’m beyond thrilled to show you my new maxi dress from Rachel Pally. It’s a jewel!
I’ve been getting a lot of questions from readers and friends about how to wear a maxi dress now that it’s chilly outside…what shoes…do you wear a jacket, etc. I personally love to wear a moto jacket with mine, but you can also wear a denim jacket or even a slouchy sweater (which doesn’t look so great when you’re expecting, but when not, it’s pretty darn cute and was seen all over the runways!). Now, shoes? I really recommend a chic moto or combat boot in the cold weather…so edgy and unexpected (um, and warm!). But, you could also pair it with a ballet flat, as long as you don’t need height for your dress length (which I always find I do…this dress is actually being hemmed a few inches as I type!).
Expecting or not, anything from Rachel Pally is a dream…the soft cotton fabric is extra, extra soft and just feels so good on the skin. This dress is from the fall collection, and as you know, I adore cobalt lately. I can’t wait to wear this into the spring post-pregnancy – I know it will be a lifesaver. RP also has some amazing prints (“galaxy” is a great holiday print right now) and flowy tops I can’t wait to get my hands on as well post-pregnancy. And let’s talk about this brown bag? It’s a Petunia Pickle Bottom diaper bag! Who knew, right? It’s got both beautiful form and function, and I love the clean lines of it, but also the embossed fabric (comes in seven colors, too!) You can carry it by the handles or with the strap, and of course it has tons of pockets. The fabric is also water-resistant and great for all those baby mishaps (another reason why I opted for the chocolate brown). And guess what? You can WIN a diaper bag of your own below…go ahead and enter all your info in the box and I’ll choose a winner next week. Happy Thanksgiving, indeed! xoxo
Here’s how I styled my bump:
*Cobalt maxi dress gifted by Rachel Pally (so flowy and the empire waist is the perfect bump accent. You can’t see them here, but the short, kimono sleeves are amazing as well.)
*Brown maternity moto jacket by Liz Lange for Target (have had this since my pregnancy with little C…great for layering in the cool weather.)
*Orange beaded necklace from local shop, Tulips
*City Carryall gifted by Petunia Pickle Bottom (this is a truly great diaper bag that is a great cross between diaper bag/purse. It still looks chic!)
