Charlotte Ronson is one of my fav designers these days - I completely love the cool-girl aesthetic of her ready-to-wear line, but also the accessibility and affordability of her I Heart Ronson line with JCPenney. Both are sensible and a wardrobe you'd want to share with your best friends because it's just so fun. Party dresses with cut-outs, crop tops with plaid pants, quirky dog sweaters. (Not to mention, she throws a mean party.) In just a couple of short weeks, we'll be covering her 2014 fall collection at fashion week, and can't wait to see what's in store.
For now, Charlotte was exceptionally nice (isn't she always?) to answer a few questions for us in the chaos of her prep for the presentation. Read below to find out how she's getting ready for fashion week and what some of her fav spring items are...squeal!
Charlotte Ronson: Yes! I did lots of traveling. I spent Christmas in Dubai and New Year's in Sri Lanka. It was amazing to experience such unconventional beauty on the other side of the world.
IHH: Your I Heart Ronson line with JCPenney just keeps getting better and better (love this fall's moto jacket!). How do you think it's evolved?
CR: The collection has evolved to become a lot more sophisticated and trend driven with a focus on day-to-night dressing.
IHH: What makes you most excited when you wake every morning?
CR: I feel lucky every day to be able to go to a job that I'm passionate about and doesn't always feel like work.
IHH: You have lots of celebrity friends who wear your clothing. Who are your own celebrity style crushes?
CR: Kate Moss, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Lauren Hutton and Bianca Jagger – they're all confident and unique in their individual style and stay true to who they are.
IHH: Your show is a must every fashion week. What are you currently doing to prep for next month and will it be a more low-key presentation again?
CR: I'll be showing at The Hub at the Hudson Hotel, which is a part of IMG. From now until fashion week, I'm working with my design team on fitting the collection, working with my stylist Natalie Joos on the looks and any additional accessories, casting models, and confirming hair & makeup. Lastly, I'm working with my production team and my talented friend Happy Massee on the set design for my presentation.
IHH: Any inspiration you can share for the upcoming line?
CR: You'll just have to wait and see...
IHH: Many of us already look forward to the dainty floral dresses of spring. What are a couple major CR looks we should be on the lookout for in a few months?
CR: I have so many favorite looks, but here are a few. My floral osprey cut-out cami flounce dress, my cherry-print rib-waist pullover (paired with my black lambskin shorts with eyelet inserts), and lastly, my gingham sleeveless crossover shell paired with my white eyelet wrap-front skort.
