How I Wore My Heels: Ankle Bootie Style
Well after nine months of Trimdown Thursdays, I think it’s time to say bye-bye (whew) and hello again to How I Wore My Heels. You thought they’d never be back, right? Well, tennis shoes def have their place in my closet and my new mom wardrobe, don’t get me wrong. But I absolutely relish the moment these days (even more!) when I can put on a great pair of heels – or a great ankle bootie.
Last week I was invited to a holiday event downtown with some friends (to benefit CARTI, a cancer organization, which is dear to my heart), so I took advantage of the occasion and went shoe shopping. If you’ve ever studied Olivia Palermo and her wardrobe you’ll realize pretty quickly that she’s flawless and can do no wrong when it comes to style. So, I sorta took her as my style inspiration and found the “look for less.” Olivia loves wearing a stiletto ankle bootie (she has an amazing pair of Louboutins, but that’s just not in the Christmas budget for moi right now, but rather Legos and Cozy Coupes, if you catch my drift.)
I found these Ronda ankle booties by Nine West at DSW for just $70 and I was thrilled. They’re everything I wanted, and the pointy toe is a feature I love that you don’t see on most booties. It’s been a little bit of crazy weather here, so I’ve been dragging out the black tights, and my cropped moto jacket is a go-to when I’m looking to add edge to an outfit, whether it’s a dress like this one from my fav shop Scarlet (the brand is Jaggar), or skinny jeans. I’ll never part with my Rebecca Minkoff crossbody…it’s a part of my look for life.
