How I Wore My Heels: The Shirtdress
It’s getting closer and closer to summer down south (whew! humidity! didn’t miss that part…), so I’m trying to find ways to dress as cool as a cucumber. I was pretty excited when I found out my online mama friend Morgan of Shop BURU was having a trunk show in my very own town last month…so, of course, like any fashion-loving fool, I jumped on it! It was pouring down rain and I couldn’t find a soul who could go with me, but I trudged through (alone!) and found the chicest shirtdress ever. That’s dedication…am I right?
I tried on so many lovelies from the cutest bus chockful of complete and utter loveliness and almost took home a sweet Mara Hoffman caftan for lounging…great everyday piece. But then when I tried on this Rebecca Minkoff Miley shirtdress in the sweetest shade of blue, I was hooked. Little did I know I had spied it as a fav on the New York Fashion Week runway this past September. I mean, what are the odds?! (That was the coolest show, by the way…it was 3D and I was sitting directly across from celebrities like Zosia Mamet and Jamie Chung – I was covering for US Weekly!) RM has always been a fav designer (ummm I have a special section of her handbags alone in my closet…guilty).
You won’t believe it, but I told M. I had a change of heart on this dress because I just wasn’t sure, and I’m so glad I didn’t go through with the exchange. I’ve been wearing this dress literally every week since and couldn’t imagine life without it (shopping tip: always sit on a purchase at least two weeks (if you can) before you change your mind!). This dress is easy, breezy and beautiful – with or without my denim jacket…with or without heels. It’s a live-in-it mom dress and way better than yoga pants. Wink.
P.S. It definitely runs large because of the oversized fit, so since the site only has x-small remaining, if you’re a small, you could definitely wear it. Squeal!
