DeFeet Poverty One Step at a Time
Tonight was the DeFeet Poverty event at the Clinton Presidential Center here in my hometown of Little Rock. While Bill was a no-show (don’t blame him – there was snow and ice here earlier!), it was still a great time had by all. I got to see a great fashion show (or two or three!) sponsored by the Clinton Foundation, Heifer International and TOMS Shoes. And, of course, our fav new designer, Korto Momolu was there in all her glory (check out my post on her blog here!
First of all, what a great cause. TOMS Shoes were decorated by celebrities like Susan Sarandon and auctioned away (I even bid on some by a local designer – cross your fingers!), and every time a purchase is made (including tickets from tonight), a needy child gets a pair of shoes. Pretty awesome, right? And the shoes are adorable to add to that (check out these tie dye TOMS for spring – LOVE!).
Local students and designers showed their designs on the runway, and then Korto came out to show her latest designs. One of my favs is the khaki belted party dress above with balloon sleeves – how fun and completely classic at the same time. Dress it up with bold accessories (so Korto, right? look at her own necklace when she poses with me!) and it transforms the outfit even more.
P.S. Got to meet Blake Mycoskie, creator TOMS Shoes. What a nice guy! He truly knows the spirit of giving (and how to make a cool shoe, no less! these things have caught on like wildfire. Celebs all over from Scarlett to Bono to Keira heart these things – I’m still scouting for my perfect pair myself!).
