The Classic Sheath

Ah, the classic sheath. One cannot go wrong (well, unless you pile on too many accessories and try to wear pink nail polish with it). And it seems these days the color of the evening is blue – whether it’s a perky spring aqua or a mesmerizing deeper royal hue. It was just the other day when Shoshanna spilled her most versatile piece in her spring collection – the sheath, of course.

Teri Hatcher’s been wearing one by designer Black Halo. The slim belt is, well, very slimming (although maybe it shouldn’t be so loose?) and the metallic heels are super-glamorous and low key enough to stay with the gorgeous simplicity of the dress.

And Reese Witherspoon knocks it out in Roland Mouret – the epitomy of all sheath dresses. And I actually like how she matched her heels by Brian Atwood to the dress to create one continuous (chic!) flow. Hot pink may have been too much, but the blue is rather tasteful.

I know what I’m doing this weekend – sheath shopping!
