NY Fashion Week F/W 2010: Vivienne Tam
When I received the Vivienne Tam invite a few weeks ago, in all its animal-print glory (it said we would celebrate “The Year of the Tiger”), I knew it was going to be good. Unfortch, I couldn’t attend, but the fab H. (who is a make-up artist! check out her work here) was there front and center to cover for IHH. Thanks, H.!
Apparently, it was a packed house inside Viv’s showroom, but check out this great shot H. managed to get (last photo) of the designer herself. Here’s what went down in H.’s very own words:
“Her Chinese Zodiac-inspired line was filled with overtones of ruffles, fur, sequins and layers. It was beautiful to see the way the seaming was done to make the jackets look like they had satin “Monkey” fur flowing off the bottom. She was able to make stylists swear that skirt on a black belted dress was made with tons of flowing sequins, when there wasn’t a single glitter in the dress! Who says that you cant wear animal prints, sequins and printed tights. When you pair “snake” print sequins with the printed blouse balanced with the patterned tights, fireworks explode! My absolute favorite of the night was the cream “Tiger” slashed coat! If anyone wants to get it for me – I will tell you where to send it!”
And here’s the deets on the make-up (which was gooooorgeous, by the way!):
“Makeup Artist Charlotte Willer, with Maybelline Cosmetics informed me that the look of the night was the bold, bright-red lips, clean fresh-glowing skin, and brows. Plus, little to no makeup on the eye area, with the exception of concealer. And isn’t this the perfect tight, high ponytail?!”
Here are the colors of Maybelline products they used:
Mineral power liquid foundation
Mineral power concealer
Define a brow
Eye studio quad (the beige shimmer point in the corner of the eye)
Color Sensational Lip Liner Red 50
