Living it Up at the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek
Hello, chicettes! I’m back from my magical girl’s shopping weekend where we (myself/my mom/my sister and my niece) stayed at the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas, a secluded piece of paradise. We all needed a break, and so we took a little trip to get away and pamper ourselves – and boy did we! Our fav area of Dallas lately is Uptown where there are lots of shops and restaurants, and so we decided to try out a new hotel. The Mansion is just that – an oilman’s former mansion that dates back 30 years (this year!) and now holds 143 updated rooms and suites. All kinds of notables stay here, and, in fact, Melissa Gilbert of Little House on the Prairie fame was there while we were (the month of May also found the band Foreigner, Courtney Love, Benjamin Bratt and Melinda Gates, wife of Bill.)
This was one of our rooms, and let me tell you! After shopping allllll day long, this bed was the most comfortable bed any of us had ever slept in – no joke. We pulled the drapes shut and cozied in to watch a free preview of FashionTV that happened to be showing. Other perks? A very spacious room, super-cute orange settee, wireless Internet and docking station for your iPod (you could also request one at the front desk just for your stay!). Did I mention the staff was truly above and beyond our expectations (when we arrived they took our luggage, parked our car and brought ice water and a treat to our room!).
We also took advantage of the luxurious bathroom (hello, we love to pamper ourselves), complete with amazing-scented Lady Primrose bath products (even bath crystals!). Mom never walked around without her comfy slippers (she actually bought them, too!) and I got dressed in the waffle robe, which I loved.
We didn’t have much time to enjoy the pool, but I certainly got my time lounging on these chairs just above the pool before we had to check out. Ahhhh….I could’ve stayed there all day reading magazines!
And before we left to go back home, we had this amazing room service. Yes, they set up a huge table with chairs for us. Nice presentation, right? Let me spill though – it didn’t just look good, it was good! Pastries, biscuits and gravy, eggs and hashbrowns. I think we ate every last bite! A culinary dream (the hotel is known for its culinary excellence).
And the shopping? I die. We hit up NorthPark Center and Highland Park Village, my fav shopping destinations in Dallas. Of course I bought baby C. the cutest little crab outfit at Janie & Jack for the beach (and the sweetest goodnight book at Nordstrom!), but I also found me plenty of goods! Barneys Co-Op is my home away from home, and I bought the chicest Ella Moss striped cocoon sweater (missed the pre-sale by three days – sigh…) and a couple of Loomstate tanks (love, love the feel of this organic cotton line!). I stopped in Jimmy Choo and Scoop NYC to browse the latest designs – sooo cute. But, I really can’t wait to wear my new non-slip striped headband from Lululemon to PIlates this week, and the silky soft beach pants and tee from Anthropologie make me count down the days until our next vacation. But, this one was, for sure, one of the most relaxing weekends I’ve had in quite awhile. A fashionista’s dream come true. Until next time…
