Christian Siriano: Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week F/W 2012

By Sarah Kleinhenz, Fashion Week Correspondent

Drama, Drama, Drama! That's what strutted down the runway at Christian Siriano. And it was the best drama a fashion girl could ask for! The inspiration behind this collection was the 1993 film Vampire Bat. And vampy chic is exactly what we got.

Looks were simple, yet the intricate details literally took your breath away. The color palette of blacks and greys with a pop of deep reds made you feel empowered and ready to take on anything! CS mixed innocent with edgy with a flowy chiffon gown and leather motorcycle jacket. A dizzying black and white print was used in pants, blouses and dresses and were either paired together or worn separately. I love mixing prints, but I like that a little matchy, matchy is on point for fall. What girl doesn't like the look of clean and sophisticated!? My favorite look of the show was the jaw-dropping black beaded mermaid gown above. The picture doesn't do it justice! It's a showstopper and I just know some celeb is going to jump at the chance to wear that on the red carpet.

"The silhouette of the [hair]style is inspired by the mystique of bats, as is Christian’s collection. Hair is tight to the head to represent the body of the bat, and wide in the back to mirror the wing span." -- Antoinette Beenders, Aveda Global Creative Director

Fall is definitely all about mixing prim and proper with edgy and dark. It's going to allow girls who don't usually take risks to get out of their comfort zone and play a little with different looks.

Now for my favorite part of the show (and obviously yours, too!) - the shoes! I DIE!!! Seriously. Snake-print boots and heels! Glitter pumps and t-strap heels! Colorblocking with print and suede! CS really knows how to design a fabulous and swoon-worthy shoe, and I'm definitely picking these up come fall.

CS continues to surprise and inspire my fashion creativity. I look forward to each season just to see what he'll come up with next. He's truly a designer who gets women and drives to make sure they feel absolutely amazing in his designs. Heart you, Christian! xo
