Today I'm honored to be a part of a special national campaign (featured along with 49 other bloggers on the popular site, StyleCaster) collaborating with Feel More Better, an online women's magazine where women can share and sound off about issues that affect us all. By wearing this 1-for-1 "StoryTee" (with each purchase, FMB gives a new book to an underprivileged girl), we can not only sound off on our own opinion on "truth in advertising," but empower other young women to feel downright good about themselves (more better?). As a woman, you must've had that feeling of not being "pretty enough" at least a dozen times in your life. Photoshopping (or airbrushing)? Well, it doesn't help one bit. It completely sends the wrong message.
Feel More Better actually created the Media and Public Health Act, which aims to pass federal legislation requiring advertising and editorial that meaningfully change the human form through photoshopping/airbrushing to carry "Truth in Advertising" labels.
"So when you're wearing or giving or using any of our Feel More Better StoryGoods, you're saying something - and reminding yourself and maybe some others about what matters, of how you feel, of how you want to see and be seen, of how you want to live and feel. Happily. As You. Whoever and however you choose to be." -- Eva & Seth, Feel More Better
These StoryTees are a great way to send out positive messages, and I'm completely in love with my "Not Photoshopped" tee. In fact, I've been wearing it at least once a week since I received it for this campaign. They're super-soft and 100-percent handmade in L.A. This one's slightly cropped in the front and hangs lower in the back, a hemline I absolutely adore.
Wanna win one of your own and help spread the message? Just leave a comment below and I'll choose one lucky winner at random next Tuesday, July 17. Best of luck!
U.S. only. Contest ends Tues., July 17 at 5:00 p.m. CST. Winner to be notified via email and must respond within three days or another winner will be chosen.
