My Drybar Experience
Last week while in New York for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, I had my first “Drybar” experience. Heard of it? I’m sure you have! It’s the hottest new salon thing – no cuts, no color, just blowouts. For $40. And it’s so simple to schedule – you just go online and choose your pref (with or without scalp massage), or you can even use the handy, dandy iPhone app.
The location I visited was on the Upper West Side at Le Parker Meridien, so it was very convenient to fashion week. Located in the basement, the salon is very simple with a waiting area (where I had the most amazing strawberry-infused water, by the way), a separate “bar” area for blowouts and a shampoo room. I had my hair shampooed and blow-dried by Cassandra, and she was excellent. I really don’t enjoy the small talk, and she was nice enough, but got the job done quickly and it looked great afterwards. That’s all I could ask for! If you don’t have a style in mind already, there is a “lookbook” where you can choose which style you want. I chose the “Manhattan” – sleek and smooth.
While having my hair dried, there was a large flat screen in front with captions on it (since blow dryers are always running), where I watched Bride Wars and Mean Girls. How fun is that? It was certainly nice to just sit for a moment (it took about 45 minutes) and relax, letting my heels rest from fashion week.
So many compliments on my hair that day. Drybar, I will be back!
The menu of options – there aren’t many, which I love. Simple. |
My view where I watched chick flicks the entire time |
The final result…but don’t ask me why I look all stiff and non-smiley? Lol. |

Ahh this is one of my favorite places! I just happened to visit the very first drybar in Brentwood the night it opened. And the owner, Alli Webb was there doing hair. I got the chance to chat with her after hours (with champagne) and she was amazing. Seriously she is so down to earth, so great at what she does and I am thrilled with the success drybar has had since that night. So glad you loved it.
