Saks OFF 5TH at Silver Sands Outlet
I have to admit, one of my fav parts about heading down on our annual road trip to the beach is the outlet mall. It just has to be done, y’all. Last year I hit it up first thing on the way in, but this year, I set aside a special glorious afternoon to shop my little heart out at the Silver Sands Outlet in Destin, Florida. Besides the outlet mall in Orlando (which I haven’t spent near enough time browsing), this is one of my all-time favs because (a) I can drop wads of cash on little C. at crewcuts and (b) I can drop wads of cash on moi at Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH. Duh.
This place is like pure shopping heaven – I mean, it’s 17k worth of space! While last year I found an array of contemporary labels and chic tees – from a tie dye C&C California to a nautical Splendid hoodie and simple James Perse – this time I hit the jackpot on the perfect summer dress (slash swimsuit coverup, really). I’ve been wearing this drawstring Shoshanna number religiously since my eyes landed on it coming down the escalator (no, really…I tried on about 15 things in the dressing room and was leaving when I saw this…and back up to the dressing room I went!). It retails for upwards of $300, but I paid only $65 for it (I got extra off with my special OFF 5TH rewards card). It’s the softest cotton, and really the first Shoshanna piece I’ve actually tried on IRL. When folks talk about Shoshanna fitting women with curves, they’re right. This dress fits everything from my hips to arms in just the spots.
I also scooped up a pair of $15 Splendid striped flip-flops in blue and yellow for while I was at the beach. I’m lucky in that when I see a table of a bunch of picked over shoes (yes, first I flock to it), they always have my tiny size six. These are super comfy, although some of the design has already started to peel, but I don’t mind one bit. They’re for those lazy summer days.
P.S. If you happen to travel to this outlet mall this month, they’ll be carrying sunnies by Jimmy Choo and Tory Burch; giftables by Jonathan Adler; jewelry by John Hardy and Judith Ripka; handbags by Michael Kors and Milly; and shoes by Tory Burch and Dolce Vita. To name a few!
