Swaddle. Is that a new term for you? If you're not a mama or soon to be, you probably have no idea what I'm talking about, right? But, did you know...Today, 1,000 hospital nurseries, nationwide in all 50 states and in Canada, are using HALO® SleepSack® Swaddles instead of blankets?? Pretty amazing stuff! It's through the HALO® Safer Way to SleepInitiative (also see below), modeling safe sleep practices (pacifiers! breastfeeding! back sleeping! those are all great ways to prevent SIDS) to new parents right from their child’s first day of life.
Such a great idea, indeed. I know with little C., we swaddled him quite a bit because it really made him happy. Thus, it made us happy! :) But besides the happy factor, the safe factor is just as important. And if you've been reading in the news about swaddles as of late, the HALO swaddle, in particular, does not hurt the baby one bit. The HALO SleepSack Swaddle has been deemed “hip healthy” by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute. There are definitely safe ways to swaddle, but like anything you need to do your research as a parent upfront. Especially, first timers! Swaddling is definitely an art you have to learn (as I learned myself).
GIVEAWAY!So...today I'm going to give away a HALO Swaddle to one lucky mama! To win, all you have to do is comment with your fav and the size you would need, in the comments below. (Make sure you leave your email address!) Good luck! xoxo
About the Safer Way to Sleep Initiative:
HALO Innovation’s SleepSack® Swaddle has become the standard for hospital nurseries and parents alike. In fact, 1,000 hospital nurseries use the HALO SleepSack Swaddle instead of blankets through the HALO Safer Way to Sleep Initiative. Leading health organizations agree that modeling proper baby care in the hospital is the single biggest influence on how parents care for their baby at home. HALO Innovations also offers free Safe Sleep Practices kits to childbirth educators to help further the cause of SIDS prevention.
